Lesson Bookings, Payments, and Changes
Bookings can be made online, by phone, or in-person.
Bookings will be confirmed via email.
Payments should be made prior to the lesson, either online when booking or using card or cash in-car at the start of the lesson.
If paying by cash, please have the correct amount, otherwise I can add a credit to your online booking account.
All payments for lessons are non-refundable.
If a booking is cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice, any payment for that lesson can be used as credit towards the next lesson.
If a booking is cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice, any payment of that lesson may be forfeited.
The lesson time starts as soon as the Student enters the training vehicle, or after 5 minutes of the Instructor arriving at the agreed location.
If the Student might be late to the lesson, please contact your Instructor as soon as possible (Phone Call, SMS, WhatsApp) to see if the lesson can be delayed or rescheduled. Your Instructor will make every effort to accomodate the request if possible, depending on other booking commitments.
The Instructor will make every effort to attend the lesson at the agreed time. If the Instructor is unable to attend or will be late to a lesson booking, they will contact the Student as soon as possible to either delay the lesson, cancel or reschedule at no additional cost to you.
The Instructor reserves the right to cancel a lesson, before or during the lesson, if any situation or environmental factor makes the learning environment unsafe or potential risky. Reasons for this may include the Student’s behaviour, attitude or health and wellbeing, the Instructor’s health and wellbeing, vehicle faults, poor weather or road conditions.
Student Responsibilities
The Student must carry, and provide on request, their Learner Permit during all car driving lessons.
The Student will need to provide their home address, email, and mobile number for car driving lessons.
The Student should make every effort to arrive on time at the agreed lesson time and location.
The Student should wear appropriate clothing for the lesson, ie wear comfortable clothing and closed footwear. Thongs or sandals may be a safety hazard.
The Student must wear their prescription glasses if required for driving.
The Student must not be affected by alcohol or drugs during the lesson. Both the Instructor and Student are required by law to have 0.00 BAC (Blood Alcohol Content).
The Student must advise the Instructor of any health conditions or medications that may affect the Students ability to operate the training vehicle safely.
The Student must advise the Instructor as early as possible about any additional learning support or requirements they may need to learn safely, including any special needs for vision and hearing.
The Instructor will make every effort to accomodate all learning styles, characteristics and special needs in order to make the learning environment effective and safe.
The Student should carry their charged mobile phone for the purpose of communicating with the Instructor before and after the lesson if required.
The Student’s mobile phone must be off or on silent during the lesson unless the training vehicle is parked securely and the phone is required to be used for emergency reasons.
The Student must follow all rules and instructions given by the instructor or other authorized person (eg. VicRoads Testing Officer or Police Officer).
The Student must make every attempt to follow all road rules, road signs and markings, and do their best to drive safely at all times.
It is the Student’s task to operate the vehicle as instructed and to always act with responsible and careful behaviour. Any deliberately willful, illegal or dangerous action by the Student while driving the training vehicle could result in damage to property or injury to other road users, fines and demerit points, for which the Student willl be fully liable.
If the Instructor deems that any behaviour or action by the Student creates or potentially creates an unsafe situation, the Instructor will give a warning and attempt to rectify the mistake with training, or in some cases, may choose to stop and terminate the lesson immediately.

Doors Driver Training Responsibilities
Doors Driver Training and Instructors will:
Honour all confirmed lesson bookings.
Provide a registered, insured, safe, roadworthy 5-STAR ANCAP rated vehicle for every lesson.
Create and maintain a safe learning environment at all times, identifying and managing risk from all road hazards.
Provide details, if requested, of the Instructor’s current and valid Drivers Licence, Driving Instructor Authority, and Working With Children Check, as required by Safe Transport Victoria.
Provide details, if requested, of the Instructor’s Qualifications to teach student drivers (TLI41222 – Certificate IV in Motor Vehicle Driver Training), as approved by the industry regulators.
Be fit and healthy to conduct safe and effective driving lessons.
Have a 0.00 BAC and use no illicit substances.
Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and grooming.
Display excellent driving behaviour at all times.
Behave with professional integrity.
Design and adapt driving lessons to suit the Student’s current skills and goals.
Make all reasonable adjustments for Student’s characteristics and/or special needs, while ensuring the learning environment is safe and effective.
Implement professional business practices and comply with all relevant legal requirements.
Support professional industry practices.
Adopt minimum child safety standards to help protect Students under 18 years.
Safety and Duty of Care
Doors Driver Training will provide every Student with a safe learning environment.
The Instructor will maintain the training vehicle to a high standard with regular servicing, daily inspections and cleaning.
At the start of each lesson, a pre-drive safety check is performed to ensure that all vehicle safety functions are operating correctly.
At the start of each lesson, a safety interview with the Student is conducted to ensure they are ready to drive, meeting all Student Responsibilities listed in the above section.
The Instructor will select an appropriate driving route and road conditions to suit the Student’s skills, experience, and goals.
The Instructor will observe and manage all safety hazards, make decisions and take actions to ensure the safety of the Student and other road users.
The Instructor has full control of the vehicle at all times, through the use of dual-controls and professional training in how to control the steering wheel from the passenger seat.
In an emergency situation, the Instructor will take contol of the vehicle and make every effort to create a safe environment for the Student and other road users.
If, during a driving lesson, the Student is required to exit the vehicle to observe or perform a learning task, the Instructor will ensure the learning environment is safe to avoid any risks to the Student. This includes parking the vehicle in a safe location, wearing a high-visibility vest, or using traffic cones to create a safe buffer zone.
Front and Rear dashcams automatically record the surrounding environment when the car engine is on. Footage is used for professional development purposes, and may be used as evidence in the event of an accident or for insurance claims. These dashcams do not record any interior cabin activity.
In-car cameras to record cabin activity, filming the Student and/or Instructor performing a driving task may be used for training purposes but only with the express, written consent of the Student and/ Parent/Guardian.
Release and Indemnity
Driving a vehicle is a serious and potentially dangerous task. Other road users may not always drive or act appropriately, and may cause or contribute to an accident.
While Doors Driver Training takes every precaution to maintain a safe learning environment for the Student and all other road users, it is possible (though unlikely) that during a lesson the Student may be involved in an accident during a driving lesson while operating the training vehicle.
In the event of an accident, regardless of whether it is caused or contributed to by the Student or by a third party, the Student and the Student’s legal guardian hereby release, discharge and hold harmless Doors Driver Training, its officers, employees and agents from all present and future claims (legal, equitable or statutory) which the Student and/or legal guardian have or may have had against any of them, except where such claims arising from any negligent act or omission of the School, its officers, employees and agents.
The Student and/or legal guardian hereby indemnify Doors Driver Training, its officers, employees and agents from and against any claim or damages they may incur as a direct or indirect result of or in connection with or arising from any accident, injury or loss that occurs during or as a result of a lesson except where such injury or loss arises from any negligent act or omission of Doors Driver Training, its officers, employees and agents.
Where an ‘at fault’ insurance claim arises for damage to a vehicle or any other property while the Student is driving, the full excess will be due on request. Where a ‘not at fault’ claim arises for damage to a vehicle or any other property whilst the Student is driving, the insurance excess will not apply.
