Reverse a car in a straight line and through a turn.
REVERSE STRAIGHT BACK
- If necessary checks planned reversing path on foot and identifies designated completion position.
- Checks any potential obstructions before reversing.
- Selects reverse.
- Makes final visual checks ahead and behind for hazards (including shoulder check) and releases park brake.
- Gives way to pedestrians or other traffic if necessary.
- Does not slip the clutch excessively (manual).
- Covers the brake with the right foot (automatic).
- Reverses slowly (using accelerator, where necessary) and remains within any boundary limits.
- Maintains observation to the rear while reversing.
- Corrects steering in small increments and, if in doubt, pulls forward and realigns before starting again.
- Completes task safely in designated position.
REVERSE 90 DEGREES RIGHT
- Drives past turn and positions vehicle within any boundaries to minimise severity of turn.
- Checks planned reversing path and identifies designated completion position and turn reference point.
- Checks any potential obstructions before reversing.
- Selects reverse.
