Prepare the car for driving. Ensure the following is completed before moving off and returning:

• Before stepping onto road, observes traffic and chooses a safe gap to approach drivers door.
• Observes traffic both ways and does not open door until safe.
• Enters vehicle and closes door as soon as possible.
• Adjusts seat and steering wheel position correctly.
• Adjusts centre mirror and side mirrors correctly.
• Fits seatbelt correctly over shoulder and across body.
• Puts left foot on the foot rest to the left.
• Puts right heel in front of brake pedal and pushes brake pedal.
• Pivots on right heel to press accelerator pedal.
• Pivots quickly between brake pedal and accelerator pedal.
• When moving off, starts engine while pressing brake pedal, selects correct gear and handbrake off.
• When parking, selects Park gear, handbrake on, and engine off.
• When leaving the vehicle, does a head check right or uses Dutch Reach by using left hand to open drivers door and doing head check right.  
• When leaving the vehicle, takes extra care to look for approaching vehicles, motorbikes, bicycles and pedestrians.
